Malta 2001
This is a really interesting place if you've never been.. Malta is really laid back, the sort of place where you see about three policemen in a whole week and they aren't armed or doing anything... Everyone is friendly and civilised.. they even drive on the left (most of the time). Some of these latest pics are real favourites of mine..
'Pretty beach' (it's real name) and it certainly is.. just 1/2 a mile away is the main floating free-port of Malta though.. this could be considered to be a 'pollution-issue' image but it isn't.. everything was spotless.
I saw this old lady walking with a terrible limp and her little dog doing the same thing in one of the dusty side-streets of Valletta, the capital... It was pure chance I caught them both doing the same step in this pic.. Pet's and their owners.
Valletta has these massive doorways which yielded these pics.. here a tiny girl is just watching the world go by..
Valletta again, the two old chaps were so engrossed in their conversation they completely missed me taking this.
A colourful market scene with this old farmer chap selling goods from his battered scooter. The bushes he's selling are full of tiny pods which you sort of 'popped' to reveal a small green centre a little like a Chick-pea.. they taste like Chick-pea/peanuts...
Cat in M'dina.. ' The silent city ' It certainly is.. too small for cars this quiet and tiny city is really a fortress sat on a hill.. it used to be Malta's capital. As a fortress it was never taken in over 1000 years, a really awe-inspiring place.
There were some real characters about.. look at this lady and all of the weird trinkets she has tied on her house.. she sat there in the sun for hours.. completely mad!
